Holiday Landscape Photographs

In setting out on your holiday vacation with plans to take some exotic landscape photographs, several tips should be considered. If you have planned a definite destination, there are guide books and magazines available for background research on landscape photos for where the most scenic spots are and ideas of what you would want to photograph. The internet is also an excellent place to research for special attractions of your destination.

A good digital camera is recommended, as there are numerous settings that can be used in a lot of different lighting situations. The density filter will stop a specified amount of light entering the camera and the polarizer filter will reduce glare from water and other reflective surfaces. You'll also want a wide angle lens and, of course, a zoom lens, especially if you want to shoot some creative, close-up photos. Always bring a tripod when shooting landscapes, especially when using a low shutter speed for long exposure. It is very difficult to hold the camera stable in your hands to prevent camera shake. It is important you take extra batteries and a memory card or a portable storage device to download your digital images in order to reuse the memory card.

Choose the exact spot for your photo, set up your tripod and make the correct camera settings based on whether it is a bright sunny day or a nighttime photo. Take your time. The scene is not going to change for a few minutes. Take several shots to assure you will have an exciting photo to display.
